Effective networking

So many people out there do not know how to properly network.  Many people will attend a networking event, register, then gravitate to the people that they know.  Chatting with people you already know is not going to do much to boost your sales.  You must venture out.

Find the best places for your target prospects.  Which organizations will benefit you most for meeting people that will benefit from your business?  Your best prospects are not always where you think they will be.  Nor are they sometimes the person you think they may be.  People surprise you so don't rule anyone out as a potential customer.

Devise a plan.  Set an agenda for yourself for the next event you attend.  What do you want to accomplish, who do you want to meet.  How many contacts do you want to make?

Make sure you peruse the room for people that you do not know and get to know them.  It is important to meet new people at these events.  Alway's remember, it is a numbers game.

When you first meet someone new, ask them about themselves before you give them an earful about yourself. Active listening will help you hone in on your approach with them.

These are just a few of the simple things you can do at your next networking event.
